Day 3, July 12, 2025
Saturday, July 12th, Day 3 of our French adventure. We traveled to Libourne for shopping that wasn’t as readily available as in Castillon-la-Bataille. It is about half an hour’s drive away and that is also where the nearest hospital is. (My Sea Ranch friends who are a 2 hour drive away from hospitals will appreciate that it is closer!) We went to the local Darty store (a nationwide appliance shop) and either purchased or ordered many appliances for the maison. Scott had found online a store in downtown Libourne for cuisine supplies and we discovered the prices there were trés cher. We instead went to a Carrefour store that had a wonderful selection of housewares. It was more comprehensive than the E. Leclerc in Castillon. It reminds me of a large Meijer store. So Day 3 and 3 shopping carts later we now have dishware, silverware, glassware and more. Scott and I still had a rental car - and both car were filled with items
We returned home tired, but Eric managed to grill more canard de magret and make ratatouille. A brief storm came through with rain and winds, followed by a rainbow and a marvelous sunset.
