Chateau Perreau Bel-Air becomes Maison Sarreau-Martin

A group of friends, Francophiles and lovers of wine, came together with a calling for adventure to purchase a winery and country house near Bordeaux France. In 2024 we found a property for sale that we all liked and more importantly a winery that can make some remarkable Côtes de Bordeaux wines.

In 2025 we finalized the purchase of Chateau Perreau Bel-Air from Denis and Valerie Lubiato who lived here and made wines here since 1991.

The maison is a typical structure found in the Gironde region, with initial construction in the 1880’s. The home served as a refuge for people wishing to escape the Nazi occupied zone during the Second World War. The demarcation line between occupied and free zones was only a few hundred meters from the residence.

The name of our parent company, Groupe Symphorien, is a name which means to “bring people together”. Indeed fitting for a shelter that brought people together fleeing Nazism serving as a passage giving them hope towards freedom. This maison served as the venue for many local parties to celebrate the liberation of France at the conclusion of the Second World War.

Renovation of the maison began in 2025 to freshen it up, restore some of the old stone walls, with a target of making this grand home available for holiday rentals starting in 2026.
